The program at a glance
More than a classroom course
The RoastingWorks Intensive Roasting Experience
This four-day program combines three SCA Coffee Skills courses with hands-on roasting practice in an active coffee production setting.
It is designed for people who want to understand not only what happens during a roast, but how roasting decisions influence consistency, sensory quality, production workflow and the commercial performance of a roastery.
Class size is limited to three participants so each learner can work directly with the trainer, coffee, machine controls, roast profiles and cupping results.
Three-course pathway
SCA Coffee Skills Courses Included
Introduction to Coffee
Build a practical understanding of coffee from seed to cup, including the value chain, freshness, basic sensory evaluation and the role of roasting.
Roasting Foundation
Learn the roasting cycle, physical changes in coffee, basic roast levels, machine structure, safety, roast logging and the execution of guided roasts.
Roasting Intermediate
Develop a deeper understanding of roast profiles, color, sensory expression, development time, thermodynamics, heat transfer, sample roasting and production consistency.
Course titles and learning scope follow the Specialty Coffee Association Coffee Skills Program and its published course catalogue. Certification is subject to current SCA requirements and successful completion of the required assessments.
